Jean Claude Knebeler, founder of Red Group, looks back at a distinguished career in business as well as serving in the diplomatic corps of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. 

As an expert in geopolitics and political analysis, foreign trade & economic development, he served as

  • Director General for Trade & Investment Promotion at the Ministry of the Economy in Luxembourg, developing strategies to grow Luxembourg's bilateral economic links with emerging markets such as China, the GCC, India and CIS countries. 
  • Consul General & Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in New York.
  • Ambassador of Luxembourg to the Russian Federation, with co-accreditation to Kazakhstan and Belarus.

During his past career as a public servant, he represented the government of Luxembourg on the boards of export insurance (Office du Ducroire), energy production and distribution (Encevo S.A.) as well as international air freight companies (Cargolux Airlines). 

After requesting and receiving an honourable discharge from the civil service, Jean Claude focused on Sustainable Finance and international capital markets, leading the Sustainable Development Department of the non-profit International & Comparative Law Research Centre. 

From 2022 he started to develop what grew into the Red Group of companies with bases in Dubai and Hong Kong. 

Jean Claude is an anchor-investor and chairs the board of directors of ExactFarming Inc., a developer of solutions in precision digital agriculture.  

He is  independent non-executive director of Luxembourg-based SODRU S.A., a global player in the trade and transformation of oilseeds and pulses.

He is an alumni of the Ecole Nationale d'Administration in France and the London School of Economics & Political Science. 

He is certified as a senior manager in government by Harvard University's JFK School of Government, in sustainable finance by the Luxembourg Stock Exchange Academy and holds a Specialist Certificate in Asset Management from the Hong Kong Securities & Investment Institute. 

He successfully completed the Global Directorship Programme of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
